As midterm is fast approaching, here are some nice activities for the infant classes.
Room on the Broom:
As you may know, I love this story and other books from Julia Donaldson. There is an online version of the story available on youtube. There are lots of other activities for SESE and English based on this story in previous posts on my blog.
Five Little Pumpkins:
I love this rhyme as an introduction in Maths and also to explore rhyming words in English. To link with the rhyme I like the art idea for Happy face pumpkins from Deep Space Sparkle.
To link with the Pumpkins, you could explore the colour oráiste in Gaeilge. Alternatively you could link with Room on the Broom for Gaeilge and explore the cailleach and the colours used in those pictures.
I also think it’s important to cover some Fire Safety and Road Safety at this stage of the year. I also try to identify rules for staying safe at a bonfire and when using sparklers over Halloween. Fireman Sam has some nice videos on staying safe at a bonfire which may encourage discussion in the class also.. Check them out on the activity village site.
We’re almost there everyone!
