End of the year with Infants

Hi everyone,

The last few weeks have been so busy, I can’t believe we are almost at the end of term. Or for some of my followers you are finished already.

I always love Summer days with Infants, there are so many activities that you can do with them. Here are some ideas to finish the school year with Junior classes.

Teddy Bears Picnic
While we haven’t had the sunny weather just yet, i’m hoping that the sun will shine this week for us. We always have a teddy bears picnic before the end of the year. My 6th class are partnered up with Junior Infants as buddies in September, and their last treat is the Teddy Bears Picnic. My 6th will prepare some simple treats such as top hats and rice krispie buns to share with their buddies for the Teddy Bears Picnic.  They get to spend some time with their buddies and their bears in the Sunshine. Both classes really enjoy it.

Photos
If you’re like me you have hundreds of photos of the class at the end of the year. I take photos of each child on the first day of each term and on during the last week of school. If I had time I made a little photo collage of each child to show their year in my class. I use the app Comic Life to create simple comics. It has backgrounds and lots of different styles of writing to add colour to your collage. These collages show how the children have grown over the year and some of the different activities they have done.

Another photo I took of each child at the end of the year, which I cannot claim original idea for (thank you Pinterest), is with chalkboards. I got each child to write on the chalkboard what they wanted to be when they grew up. I wrote prompts on the board and was a scribe for some children. I took their photo individually and used them in the collage but also saved them to Google Photos. I had infants for a number of years before I changed to Senior Classes and those little infants are now reaching my class in Senior end. So I can use this photo as part of their Graduation booklet.

Parachute Games

Last idea for simple activities in the much needed sunshine is the parachute games. Infants love going out on yard with the parachute. There are lots of ideas online for parachute games such as this link from Kid Activities.

Most of all enjoy the sunshine with all your infants this week.
